As UNICEF reports, the Syrian conflict has, to date, impacted about 30% of Syrian education facilities. Between 2011 and 2015, more than 4,200 schools were damaged, used for military purposes, or transformed into shelters for internally displaced people. Only in 2019, about 157 schools were objects of airstrikes or shelling, most of which in Idlib. This lack of education facilities results in the violation of the right to access education and negatively impacts children’s future.
